Ok the new products are in and I am starting to give them a test run! Here is what I am thinking so far:
- Target Action Line Reducer: Not quite sure… I don’t seem to have wrinkles that really “need” this… so it is hard to tell. I do have a small scar that this seems to work really well on though! The samplers are GREAT! The Company actually put the samples on the cards for us AND there is a survey on the back. FAB!
- Lip Color Sticks… wish they would have called it Stix – but hey… that is just me. So far I LOVE them! Smooth… great coverage.. no need for a liner… so far as I can tell. Now I have not tried it with my lip primer yet. Will keep you posted.
It feels like I have nothing on my lips yet my lips do not feel dry. Been trying the Blush Blossum, it is nice and did not turn orange on me like so many of our “Blush” colors have. Perfect “your lips but better neutral” - Eye Color Sticks, I have not tried these yet…. however a girlfriend did. She said that they glide on and blend fabulously BUT NOT IF YOU USE THE EYE PRIMER. Hmm… interesting note!
- Sun Care – Mostly the same just repackaged which is great with me. The packaging did need an update and our sunscreen has always been great (hubby even will use it). The After-Sun Gel is GREAT! In fact, the fragrance is so subtle I can use this around my husband without his nose going haywire. I am now taking this on roadtrips for hand cream. Not as good as a “hand cream” but does the trick for Mr. Sensitive Schnoz.
That is really it. The Hostess Tote is HUGE and I love it. Not for everyday use for personal life BUT I did put all my “paper” class supplies in it – you know look books, extra sales tix, profile cards, beauty books, team building materials, team building notebook, money bag, pens, etc. I think it will be perfect for that… still a little worried about it being too big… but will test it out and see what I think.
Well that is the skinny from over here… oh as far demo of the Color Sticks…. I am going to recommend that my consultants either just show and talk about them OR pick one of each to demo instead of all 8. Demoing all 8 will be $56 wholesale – which is what I will do… but as the Director I really do get more mileage out of my demo’s because I use them at group appointments, the teaching center, debuts, personal appointments, etc.
Hope that helps… PCP peeps can order the new stuff on the 10th and everyone else on the 15th. Have fun!!

I have a question (thanks for the update on the new products by the way)…..do you find that women of color..(which I am) dont want to buy sun protection products? It seems like the caucasians do but the blacks dont…what have you experienced Myst?
March 3, 2007 at 2:22 pm
Colleen, I can put my 2 cents in here, if that’s okay. I have found that to be the case, except with one of my customers. She is a very dark African American so never ever thought she needed sun protection. She was wrong! She got two cancers–one on her face and one on her arm. Fortunately, all turned out well, but now she is the biggest advociate for sun products you have ever seen! She gets a lot of business for me because she loves the MK.
I sold MK for a long time, though, before I met her and did find that black ladies were not that “into” protection from the sun. Everyone should be though.

What about the new men’s line? The 2nd PCP mailer (that mails in April) is all about it, but it seems that it’s not coming out in March. Does that mean it’s not coming out until April some time? I have a few male clients who are chomping at the bit for it.
March 3, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Ok, I’m not trying to be negative here, but I read my Applause religiously, along with my director’s newsletter and the news items on InTouch (I also never miss my meetings) and I have NEVER seen anything on InTouch, in Applause, or from my director about changes to the sun protection line. I’m feeling disappointed and a bit let down that I didn’t know about this change until a couple of days ago. Did I miss it or was it not released?
March 3, 2007 at 3:33 pm
hey anon – that is not being negative, that is a good question! I honestly can not remember and I already tossed my super secret squirell Director Quarterly Planner from last quarter so I can not reference that – although I am pretty sure the Sun Care information was in there… I do not seem to remember it being in the Applause and would have to go reading through old ones… and I don’t wanna… so how about this… I will tell you what I know for next quarter?
The Visibly Fit Body Lotion will be discontinued. Word from corporate is that the Part 1 of the Cellu-Shape is like Visibly Fit on Steroids. So they say. This is not supposed to happen for two more quarters… huh? Oh well.
Start moving your spa products NOW. Changes are coming and none of the current will be saved.
The new Eyeliners are finally coming with updated packaging… finally.
Same with brow liners.
Shave cream is being discontinued because of the new one in the Men’s line.
Men’s care will be available May 15th.
I think most of this is known already… maybe not… I forget.

Hey ME thanks for responding I like getting a response from anyone especially you…..although it was directed towards the Myst I dont mind everyone here is civil and they love to share!!!!!
March 3, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Oh geez.. Miss Colleen I got so busy with the other post I forgot to respond to yours. You know, I do sell the Day Solution to bronze girlies but I admit I do have a smaller number of folks who use the all over sunscreen. You really have to remind them that they do need to protect themselves from the cancer causing rays of the sun. I am glad that Me’s client is ok and it is sad that it takes something like that to bring folks around to the importance of sunscreen – regardless of skin tone!!!
March 3, 2007 at 5:48 pm
Is there anything specific you can tell us about eyeliners and brow liners? Colors? Need to be sharpened or not?
Damn it about Visibly Fit! (oops, sorry). I love that stuff!
March 3, 2007 at 6:00 pm
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Now I have an awesome reason to move my clients from Visibly Fit Body Lotion to Cellu-Shape, which I’ve been having difficulty moving. I did know about the Spa products, which I’ve never sold tons of anyway unless it was for gifts – I was my best & most consistent user of spa products. Same goes for the Shave Cream. Yipee! about the eyeliners & brow pencils! Do you know if the colors will be the same or if everything is changing? I’ll be calling my male clients on Monday to give them the update on the new men’s line. The Director’s Quarterly Planner . . . one more OUTSTANDING reason to finish DIQ. Thank you for your go-give!
March 3, 2007 at 7:48 pm
anonymous, that is a good point about the clients using VF–moving them into Cellu-Shape. Thanks for that! I was so ticked about its discontinuance, my “business brain” stopped working for a minute!
Yes, Myst–thank you so much!
March 3, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Visibly Fit, 8 oz, $22.
Cellu step 1, 8 oz, $30.
Price increase ounze per ounce, but that’ll work.
I like that, “like Visibly Fit on Steroids”!
I can work with that!
March 4, 2007 at 7:42 am
Hi, and thank you for letting me know that there will be new lip sticks and eye sticks coming out. My director failed to mention this, so I am glad I am in the know.
I love this site. THX. Jeni
March 4, 2007 at 12:58 pm
Big bags are in right now. I think they will be a great tool for classes!
March 4, 2007 at 1:34 pm
MK Rules you are correct I see TONS of women with big bags right now and it will be a great hostess gift.
March 4, 2007 at 5:38 pm
Colleen, I do not sell day solution to my African American customers, but I will tell you that one uses the sunscreen SPF 30 instead of the day solution. Keep in mind the day solution is 30.00 and the sunscreen is 9.50.
Thank you sooo much for the product information. It is not leaking information because our directors (at least mine) showed them last week. However, I have not heard of anyone using them.
My question is do you feel that the lip sticks are worth $14? You have to sharpen them right?
March 4, 2007 at 10:08 pm
About the day solution, I think it can benefit any woman (any color) due to its age fighting benefits and it has mini-even complexion essense properties (it somewhat evens complexion…but ECE is better for that).
March 4, 2007 at 11:02 pm
Day solution also has a peptide to help relax facial lines.
inmkbutsmart – regarding the new Lip Color Sticks… I don’t yet know. They are different. It does not feel like you have anything on your lips and a little goes a long way. I end up putting gloss on top because they don’t feel hydrating enough for me… if that makes any sense at all!
They do last though! HTH
March 5, 2007 at 3:12 pm
I use the Day Solution and I love it!!!!!
March 5, 2007 at 6:53 pm
Eyeliner pencils will be retractable. Some colors are changing. All brow liners will be wooden. Color changes there as well.
March 6, 2007 at 6:42 am
My director let us try the new products last night and I LOVE them! I will give you my thoughts on them later today – I have tons of notes, plus I have notes from 2 consultants who were at Robert Jones training this weekend that was discussed last night – but right now I have to scoot out the door to an interview.
March 7, 2007 at 10:07 am
I actually think the sticks should be called “styx”.
Just sayin’.
March 8, 2007 at 6:34 am
I must say, I love the site’s mypinktruth and fushia blog!!! I did listen to the ladies? at the other pink blog, and found they are filled with hate, disgust, and they want to blame everyone in MK. Why? I think that taking responsibility is much more important and forgiving than blaming someone else. I even thought of quitting MK because of the things they said, but I maintained and decided that I would be better off doing things my way , not the pinktruth way. I am glad however, that you list the new things coming out, cuz, my director does not tell us about the new product info until the LAST minute. So I learn things from you. Thank you, Jeni
March 8, 2007 at 6:50 am
Jeni – You are so welcome! When I was a consultant my Director never told us what was coming out so I always had to go “dig” it up on the internet. I found it frustrating.
Managing inventory is incredibly important for any retail business. After getting stuck with some discontinued items, etc. I made sure that I kept myself in the know!!
So I think of it as a PSA.
I have had Directors upset with me because they want to “control” the information. My attitude is that ya’all are grown-ups with your OWN business – why on earth should we dictate what information you have? If it is beneficial for you to know it is beneficial for us to share it!
The short term thinker will be upset over missing out on a small wholesale amount spent on something today vs. the overall investment and success a long term consultant will have in their business – which is a win-win!!
April 16, 2007 at 8:39 am
i just starting trying the cellushape. I want to be able to tell people if it works or not, Is it supposed to tingle? When I use the night cream it tingles a little. I hope that means its working..
April 23, 2007 at 5:16 pm
If you all go the MK websites in the Phillipines and England they have MK Botanicals!!
April 24, 2007 at 9:05 am
Will Mary Kay ever start having natural spa products???…it would be an excellent move by the company because there are plently of direct selling “spa” companys like…
Warm Spirit,Inc, and GirlSpa, and The Body Shop, and soooo much more. Have natural, health, and wellness products will be a BIG HIt in the US and bring a new market of wemen!!
April 24, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Yeah, I noticed a warming sensation with the Night Time Cellu-Shape, I have noticed a difference but personally liked the Visibly Fit…. eek… was I supposed to say that out loud? Oh well.. too late.
I have seen an image of the new spa line which has packaging that looks more botanical but I have not seen the ingredients. Rumor is that the men’s line is botanical based, again, have not seen the ingredients list.
As far as competing with places like Body Shop – etc. – our spa just does not compare and I think it would be a bad move away from the core of the company, Skin Care & Color. Just my personal opinion… that and since they have a hard time doing spa and have not even embraced Shea Butter yet… well… I think they best stick to what they know! LOL
Ok, that’s the view from the myst. Gotta get to my meeting.
April 25, 2007 at 5:40 am
i like body shoppe products as well. They have a mango body butter that is absolutely fabulous. I have a friend who sells it and we support each others business. I have never tried Warm Spirit’s products. But yeah, our spa products are good, but not the same as some of the natural stuff out there. Remember the T’erme De Sola Line? (probably spelled it wrong). I liked it especially the body spray, but it still did not catch on like some other brands. Yes, our bread and butter is our skin care and color.
April 25, 2007 at 10:33 am
Please note that JanMarieNSD is retiring and Princess Pearl (my new seminar division) is taking her place.
Now with regard to spa products I think MK should just remove them from the line. I think it has never been their strong point–in fact, Beauticontrol is coming on strong with their several spas lines and having success with their “spa” parties. If you look at their product group they have about 4 to 6 “spa” lines with several products in each set.
Where MK is a standout is the skincare and color lines, as foreverpink stated. I can’t understand this “cellulite” product when there are so many others out there already for years. I think women are resistant to buying something like that from MK especially at the price.
April 25, 2007 at 3:17 pm
For my money, the Visibly Fit Body Lotion is the perfect anti-aging body lotion at the perfect price. I sell A LOT of them. I have one client who buys 3-4 PER MONTH because everyone in her family uses it – husband, teenage kids, her. In fact, she likes to tell my other clients how after her youngest son (he’s now 20) fell through a plate glass window and suffered many cuts all over his body, he used the VFBL and 4 years later, you can’t tell at all. I know her son and I remember what he looked like when he came home from the hospital and unless you know about the accident, you’d never know. But getting people to switch to a product that’s 2 1/2 times the cost (for both steps) and adding another step to their nighttime routine is not getting the greatest response from my client base. And as for my client who buys 3-4 VFBLs per month, she’s not letting everyone in the family use even the daytime step of the Cellushape because it’s $30 by itself.
April 25, 2007 at 5:08 pm
anon – the Step 1 is the Visibly Fit “on steriods” per corporate… so to replace just the visibly fit they would only need step 1 – hope that helps.
