  • Exercise more
  • Eat healthy
  • Drink more water
  • Powerstart every month

etc etc etc

DALLAS – Bruce Springsteen immortalized the pop power of pink Cadillacs.

But the luminous cars are also at the center of one of the oldest, most unusual business relationships in the auto industry – the one between Addison, Texas-based Mary Kay Inc. and General Motors Corp.

Last week, Mary Kay concluded its annual sales seminars in Dallas with the ritual rewarding of hundreds of big pink Cadillacs to the cosmetic company’s top salespeople. At a time when many companies are downsizing, cost-cutting, laying off and buying out, Mary Kay’s “trophies on wheels” continue to grow as part of one of the biggest corporate award programs in the United States.

The notion of “Happy People” was tossed around in the Robert-Lost-His-Mind posts as something ridiculous at best, dangerous at worst. One blogger equated “happy people” with “vacuous”. The idea seems to be that “happy people” implies those who are oblivious to the realities of life, in a fantasy of their own creation, and without the ability to think critically. The science, however, suggests just the opposite. (more…)

 A Teen Millionaire’s 3 Principles to Success – January 09, 2007URL: http://www.entrepreneur.com/startingabusiness/teenstartups/article172160.html

I started my first business at age nine with $50 and a home computer, and ran it from my room at home as a one-kid operation. By the time I was 19 I had started nearly a dozen profitable businesses, and for my latest venture I had received a very attractive offer of $10 million in venture capital. The venture capital firm would have called the shots, told me how to run my company, and paid me a salary that would’ve been less than I’d made on my own since I was 12.

It was a lucrative offer, and who knows? Maybe with their backing and expertise (more…)

We hear it all the time in this business “Fake it ’til you make it!” is a mantra that gets repeated over and over and over again… one spouted from all levels in Mary Kay… even our founder.  What is different, I think, is that the meaning was different when it came from Mary Kay Ash.  Not that I ever had the chance to ask her personally… (more…)
