You know how it feels to be stuck in a rut. You’re doing the same activities over and over, and you’re not happy. Maybe you feel bored with your life or burnt out on the job. Perhaps you know what would make you happy, such as a new job position or increased responsibility at work, but making that goal a reality seems insurmountable and not even worth trying. So you stay in the same situation you’re currently in, hoping that someday something will change, but it never does. Face it … you’re in a rut! Being stuck in a rut is never fun. Aside from being bored with your situation, being in a rut also makes you more prone to depression and negative thinking-the two things that will keep you in your rut for even longer. So if you want your situation to change, you must change. Instead of complaining that there’s nothing you can do to make your life better, realize that there’s actually a lot you can do. You just have to get out there, take a risk, and do something. When you are not making any progress toward a particular goal and feel completely stuck, the key to making a big change is to make little changes. Use the following six guidelines to jumpstart your life out of a rut right now. (more…)

As long as you are going to go about your day thinking anyway, you may as well “think big”. Anyone can think small, and most people do. In fact, most people keep themselves in the same place in life, doing the exact same thing, without significant growth or change because of limited or conditioned thinking.

It is probably true that many of your current and future clients are living in that place right now. Who better to support them than you? The coach who is thinking big.

Ok… so the real story behind these panties is …. well…. it leaves me speechless…. bad judgement and poor taste…

BUT because I am gifted in finding a silver lining….. let me spin this for ya’all… the pynk way!

Soooo…. any big plans for Cyber Monday?  Tomorrow is the biggest web shopping day of the year??

I just had my holiday open house… soo…. not sure if I want to do a web sale, but then a fragrance sale does seem like a good idea to finish up the Fragrance SELLING Challenge!!  :)

This should be a great topic!!  Here is my view…

Your Director is supposed to:

  • Be the best Independent Beauty Consultant in her unit
  • Provide an avenue of training and skill building for her consultants (some do weekly in person meetings, some do telephone training, some do one-on-one coaching, this comes in a variety of forms)
  • Keep you up to date on unit & company changes
  • Keep you up to date on deadlines and important dates
  • Keep you up to date on your status (active, inactive, about to lose team, about to lose discount, etc.)
  • Be your biggest cheer leader & fan
  • Be your coach

Ok… so you had a change of heart, you went through a divorce, you hated your Director… whatever the reason, you sent your product back to the Company… but… then… one day you had this thought… “maybe I should not have closed that door forever… or did I?”

Let’s talk about it.  Hey, first off, let me say that we are NOT judging people who sent their product back.  Many people do and they love that day, it is a great day for them.  That is GREAT!  For others they regret it, we are not gonna judge you either.  Life happens and we make choices at the time as best we can with the information we have.  All that being said…. here is what I know: (more…)

Let’s talk Husbands!  Maybe with this thread we can work backwards?  Talk about all the great things MK Husbands do and fill in the blanks if we find any.

Let me say that I have seen people work this business with the support of their spouse and I have seen people work this business constantly fighting their spouse’s negativity.  It is hard to do anything when the person you love is fighting against it with negative words, actions, put downs, etc.  I will also say that when this is in a situation, the Mary Kay business is not usually the ONLY area a negative person will have a problem with.  Sometimes Mary Kay provides nothing more than a positive outreach and positive confidence building experience for such a person and sometimes Mary Kay represents a way out of their current situation.  Again, Mary Kay being there in so many different ways for various people.  Ah, but I digrees… sort of…

Here is what I personally think the husbands role is and what I think my husband does GREAT at and the one thing I wish he did better (and yes… he knows it…).  I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and feedback on this too!! (more…)

Q: After years of dreaming about combining my career and family life by working from home, I’m finally ready to make the leap. I’m just concerned that, without an office to go to every day, I’ll have trouble getting out of bed in the morning. Any advice?

A: If you’re already having doubts, then working from home may not be for you. While running a homebased business offers tremendous freedom and flexibility, it also requires a high degree of motivation, self-discipline and organization. Especially if you’re used to working for a big corporation where you have a well-defined job description, employees who report to you or a manager who closely supervises your work, you may find it difficult to make the transition to being your own homebased boss. If, on the other hand, your job gives you a fair degree of independence and you’re chafing at the bit for more, working from home could be exactly what you’re looking for.

Ask yourself the following five questions to find out if you’re really ready to work from home: (more…)

Now that I’m older and a little wiser, I can’t help but think about all the encouragement, support and great advice my mom gave me that has helped me become a successful entrepreneur. Although my mother never started a company, she ran a tight ship for my siblings and me, and has managed an extended family as well as any CEO I’ve ever known.

Here are some valuable lessons she taught me that have helped me succeed in business today: (more…)

Ok!  I was bold and I went!  I know you all want to know the goings on…. here is my report… best as I can remember:

  •  New Glamour Training that is coming out will be a DVD and book…. not a lot of detail, but basically showing various MU artists applying color looks to models with a reminder not to touch your client and a presentation on how to work with your clients and teach them the techniquest without touching them. :)
  • MK Men’s line… we already all knew about that though.
  • New Team Building DVD – OMG OMG OMG – from the snips they presented this is about a MILLION times better.  Now I say this because it seems to focus on facts and corporate data with some “stories” but it seems so much more professional.  I loved  it.  I ordered mine and will keep you all posted when it comes in – after I get a chance to watch it of course.

Not much other news really.  The training was decent, I always wish there was more of that and less fluff but I know that I am one of those rare folks who does not enjoy the fluff-n-stuff so much.  Yep… my brain was in the jar labeled “A. B. Normal”

The push is on for Seminar.  WOW that comes fast doesn’t it?  Of course we would love to hear from all of you too with regard to your career conference experience!  The Directors training was mostly how to keep ourselves organized.  Hmm…. does it show?  LOL  How about you??
